| Remarks: | Grain elevators are used to consolidate and store grain from individual farmers to be shipped at a later date to grain terminals and prospective buyers by rail or by large semi-trailer trucks. Home Grain Company was started by the Searle family and eventually through mergers and acquisitions were amalgamated into Federal Grain Ltd. Wooden grain elevators were mostly replaced by larger concrete facilities by around the 1980's. |
