| Remarks: | Alberta has a large population of Ukrainians especially North East of Edmonton. A large number of Ukrainians came during late 1890's and early 1900's when the Canada government was trying to settle the West. They came to clear land for the purposes of farming. The Alberta prairies were not unlike the lands in Ukraine and early Ukrainian settlers were quite successful in settling in this area. Most of the population believed in Christianity and belong to an Ukrainian Orthodox Church. |
